Purigen is a modern filtration medium created for freshwater and marine aquariums. Thanks to its properties, it removes organic impurities from the water and also makes the water acquire crystalline clarity. Absorbs nitrites (NO3), nitrates (NO2), ammonia (NH3).
Purigen is the highest quality synthetic absorbent, much higher than other products of this type available on the market. It is not only a mixture of ion exchangers and substances with absorbent properties, but a unique macroporous synthetic polymer that captures soluble and insoluble impurities from water. Its performance and speed of action exceeds similar products by 500%. By removing organic impurities, it allows effective elimination of ammonia, nitrite and nitrite from the tank, while not depriving the water of valuable trace elements. It significantly increases the reduction and oxidation potential of water and makes it acquire crystalline clarity. Purigene granules darken as they wear out, however, the product may be regenerated using the bleach used in the household. It is intended for marine and freshwater aquariums.
Selectivity of action:
Purigen is an organic filter resin with the highest performance available on the market. No other product can effectively clean the water. Unlike other preparations containing only ion exchangers, Purigen was also designed to eliminate organic impurities. While ordinary resins are already completely saturated with metals and other impurities, Purigen is only just beginning to reveal its potential. It hardly absorbs simple molecules, mainly capturing high-molecular nitrogen-containing compounds whose main source in the aquarium is fish and invertebrate droppings and decaying plant shoots.
Thanks to its large granule surface, Purigen is extremely efficient and has a high dirt collection capacity. All resins available on the market are in the form of balls with a smooth surface, which can be seen under a microscope. The Purigen spherical granules are characterized by high porosity, many times increasing the surface of contact with water.
Purigen is easy to regenerate. In use, it changes color from light through dark brown to almost black. In this form, it can be regenerated by rinsing in an aqueous solution of bleach. The chemicals contained in it “burn” dirt accumulated in the granules of Purigen. Products suitable for regeneration in a kitchen salt solution contain only ion exchangers. What’s more, this way you will not rinse out organic impurities that gradually accumulate in the resin.
Rinse before use. Pour the resin into a fine mesh filter bag. A Purigen liter is enough to clean about 4,000 l of water for half a year. The product’s wear is indicated by a change in color to dark brown or almost black.
