  • Fish love a varied diet
An unbalanced fish diet can lead in the long term to deficiency symptoms, diseases and fatty degeneration of organs. Provide your aquarium dwellers with a varied died in the form of live food. When catching or purchasing live food there is a risk of introducing bacteria and parasites into the aquarium.

In the past, almost every aquarium owner caught water fleas in the wild and fed them to their fish. Today this is often prohibited for nature conservation reasons and many waters are now so heavily polluted that it is no longer safe to catch food animals. JBL uses trustworthy suppliers who have legal access to absolutely clean waters with safe water flea populations. The water fleas are preserved and packaged in a gentle vacuum freeze-drying process immediately after being caught.
In this way, their valuable ingredients and dietary fibres are preserved to benefit the diet of the ornamental fish.

Water fleas (Daphnia): They grow to 1-5 mm in size and belong biologically to the Branchiopoda and thus to the freshwater plankton of stagnant waters.
They do not belong to the gammari, which grow up to 2 cm long, look completely different, tend to live in flowing waters and belong to the amphipods. Cyclops, on the other hand, are much smaller (0.5-1 mm) and belong to the copepods.

To expand the diet of ornamental fish, supplementing their main diet with freeze-dried foods is highly recommended. The following types of food are available for this purpose: JBL NOVO DAPH (water fleas), JBL NOVO ARTEMIO (brine shrimps), JBL NOVO FEX (tubifex), JBL NOVO FIL (red blood worms).
