The Balling Light Set from Fauna Marin is a complete set of high purity Balling salts, additives and accessories to start immediately with the Balling Light method

Balling Light (not to be confused with Balling Lite and Classic), is a very user-friendly Balling method to supply the aquarium with calcium, magnesium and carbonates and various trace elements.

In Germany, this method has replaced the use of a lime reactor. An increasing number of aquarists also use Fauna Marin Balling salts in combination with a lime reactor to balance the chemical imbalances that can occur due to a lime reactor.

DIFFERENCES WITH BALLING CLASSIC

The biggest difference with Balling Classic is that Balling Light is much simpler and cheaper.

The use of chloride-based additives (calcium chloride and magnesium chloride) can lead to an increased chloride content in the aquarium and therefore to a disturbance in the ion balance. Balling Classic solves this problem by replacing a small amount of aquarium water with water that has been made with mineral salt (sodium chloride-free salt).

At Balling Light Mineral salt can be added as an extra, however this is not necessary in combination with weekly water changes of 10%. Weekly water changes of 10% ensure that the chloride content and ion balance in the aquarium remain stable without the use of mineral salt.

Maintaining the level of magnesium also has become easier. Balling Light requires the use of only one type of magnesium salt, while a second is required for Balling Classic (especially Magnesium sulfate heptahydrate).

Another important difference with Balling Classic is that the salts do not have to be weighed to calculate how much exactly is needed to make the solutions, making the Balling Light method much more user-friendly.

DIFFERENCES WITH CALCACTORS

Advantages compared to a lime reactor? Balling Light offers much more stable water values and also has lower start-up costs (with / without dosing pump) than a calcium reactor set.
