MARCO ROCKS coral rock is one of the highest quality rocks for marine and aquascaping aquariums. We offer natural, dry rocks that were obtained from prehistoric coral seas. Rock suitable as sump filtration medium, reef construction in reef aquariums and decoration in Tanganika / Malawi aquariums.
HOW MUCH ROCKS TO USE IN AN AQUARIUM?
If coral rock will be used as the primary filtration medium, 0.5-0.7 kg of rock should be used for every 4 liters of water. If the rock is not the main filtration medium, any amount of rock can be used until a satisfactory visual effect is obtained.
CAN YOU ADD A ROCK TO A STABLE Aquarium?
We do not recommend adding our rock or any other to the stabilized marine aquarium without prior testing. However, the rock we offer is 100% free of organic substances and hardeners, which makes it safe for a stabilized system without fear of ammonia spike.
WHAT VOLUME IS THE ROCK?
As the largest partner of MACRO ROCKS, we offer the highest quality sort of rock. 500kg of our rock on a pallet takes over 1.1m3, which gives over 2l per one kilogram. When laying a rock, you should expect that it will take at least 2l of space 🙂
HOW TO CHANGE A DRY OR A BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE ROCK
To start biological filtration, rock must be activated by bacterial strains. It’s best to use Brightwell Aquatics Micr® Bacter7 or AZOO NitriPro Marine liquid bacteria. You can also put some sand and rocks from an already functioning aquarium. During this time, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate should be monitored. When ammonia and nitrite reach 0 or close to zero it can be considered that the rock is already biologically active.
